The conversation around web game publishing has changed. It is no longer just about having a large catalog or filling a page with content. It is about understanding who your audience is, what they enjoy, and what keeps them coming back. Few people at GameDistribution think about this more closely than Thanh Le.
Thanh is Head of Distribution for Gaming and YouTube Partner Programs within the Publishing team, working with clients around the world to connect the right games with the right audiences. With Gamescom 2026 just around the corner, Thanh will be in the B2B area and available to meet in person. It is a great opportunity to talk with someone who has spent years working across some of the world’s largest gaming and content platforms.
Ahead of Gamescom, Thanh shared her thoughts on how publisher expectations are evolving, the trends shaping the industry in 2026, and what makes GameDistribution’s approach different.
GD: How have publisher expectations changed over the past two or three years?
“The focus has shifted dramatically from content to users: from ‘Which game should I choose?’ to ‘How can I bring the best gaming content to my players?’ and from ‘I need a variety of content’ to ‘Which games best fit my community?’ This change reflects a major shift in how we approach gaming content.”
GD: What are publishers looking for most when selecting new games for their audiences today?
“It is all about uniqueness and audience fit. At GameDistribution, we find the ‘sweet spot’ by understanding our clients’ specific goals and identifying the perfect titles for them, backed by clear, data-driven KPIs.”
GD: How do you determine which games are the right fit for a specific publisher, platform, or market?
“We start with the user. Our strategy centers on two questions: First, who is the audience? Understanding demographics, geography, time on page, and interests is critical. Second, what do publishers want to achieve? Whether the goal is to grow a community, increase engagement, or create new revenue streams, we use these insights to tailor our publishing strategies.”
GD: What makes GameDistribution more than just a game catalog for publishers?
“We offer gaming content as a complete, packaged solution rather than just individual titles. Our team engages with thousands of clients globally, allowing us to observe trends and learn from the best. Through our extensive network — including experts from Google, Microsoft, YouTube, and various OEMs — we provide cutting-edge services and support alongside our games.
Plus, our Azerion advertising teams in 16+ countries give us a distinct revenue advantage and the ability to customize solutions to our clients’ specific needs.”
GD: Which gaming trends should publishers be paying attention to over the next year?
“I expect casual puzzle games to remain a top trend, while games with engaging features like daily challenges and leaderboards will gain popularity.
Furthermore, as gaming platforms continue to evolve, they are attracting different audience segments. For instance, platforms like TikTok, YouTube, and Line Mini Apps appeal to younger audiences — Gen Z, Alpha, and even Beta — who engage in unique ways. In this context, specific genres may become less important than topics and SEO value that tap into trending conversations.”
GD: What do you find most exciting about the gaming industry as a business?
“What I find most exciting is the industry’s rapid evolution and how gaming companies adapt to meet changing needs. Having spent over six years in gaming, I have had the privilege of working with exceptional people who navigate challenges with resilience, and I am confident that the industry will continue to thrive.”
GD: What was the first game that made you passionate about gaming?
“Candy Crush. I started playing it almost a decade before I joined the gaming industry, and I still enjoy it today. I remain genuinely impressed by the endless creativity game developers apply to match-3 games.”
GD: What’s one small thing that can instantly improve your day?
“As an ESTP — a promoter — I am passionate about new initiatives and experimentation. My energy levels instantly lift when I see an intriguing ad on a train, a team member shares a fresh idea, or a client reaches out on LinkedIn with a unique proposal. Quarterly brainstorming sessions and casual client catchups always supercharge my day and my work.”
